Love a nice piece of welding. Looks good. Is your engine more backwards place? Looks like a lot of room you have for the manifold in the enginebay.

Yeah. Positioning was determined by the engine really with it being too wide to go further back. Its left a nice bit of room for the exhaust manifold and access to the surrounding area. For this reason weve had to cut into the bulkhead slightly to fit the throttlebody. Otherwise its still quite accessable on the inlet side also once the inlet manifold is fitted.

Just another small progress update. Exhaust is still far from finished but were getting there slowly.
Decided not to use the pie cut 90° bends we made out of the 3" pipe as it looked a bit agricultural and bought some mandrel 90s instead.
Started by attaching the turbo downpipe flange to a 90 bend .

From there we routed all the pipe in the best way we could including the flex and cat and taped in position. Leaving as much clearance as possible between the exhaust and driveshaft and rear engine mount.

At this point we realised ill have to loose a small section of the rear clam on the underside just to facilitate the cat section as it needs to sit low for the silencers to fit above it.
Once we got the position for the main run of pipe we tacked it all up.

Next we turned our attention to the silencers. Lots of cutting, grinding and welding again to make the bends which attach the silencers to the main pipe.

After notching the ends of the tubes to fit up against the 3" pipe couldnt help but have a preview of what it was going to come out like. This is as far as we have got at the moment. Its slow progress

And lastly a preview of what the new tailpipes are going to look like in the rear clam .

Looks amazing as usual. One thing I'd mention is will that back box be enough to get sound levels down? I only mention it, as I have terrible noise problems on my car and the next exhaust I make will have to be tested/modified/re-tested in a semi fabricated form to ensure I can get the DB level down.

Those akraprovic covers look cool! Where did you get them? I'm in the middle of doing my own exhaust nothing to the art of yours just manifold back.

Surprised you're not putting a second box on the left hand side.

A hansen racecar team here got some heat/sound blanket developed. http://www.econtras....-sportauto.html

Probably silly expensive, but once you have investigated all others.

There will be another box on the otherside also Nev but i cant tell you what the outcome will be as for the noise. im hoping this will be sufficient enough but i wont really know until the cars up and running. If i find it is too loud wel'll tackle that problem as we encounter it.

What power level are you going for? I imagine it's only a problem for Nev due to the power he's running... If you don't plan to go that high I would've thought two back boxes would be sufficient to keep the noise down to an acceptable level... Look forward to seeing and hearing the results!
