Hmm if this were mine I'd be getting pretty excited.

With expensive trackways coming up I think he's more nervous (about the reliability) !

Yeah for sure. Fingers crossed any teething issues are sorted out quickly.

My lack of mechanical knowledge combined with the unbelievable reliability of my original engine make me fear new things. Having Vocky do it is filling me with a load of confidence and it seems I had no choice here anyway as the other engine finally called it a day (in style on track bless it), so bring it on.

I get nervous as there is no one anywhere near me who can help when things go wrong, so even little things can become major problems.

Thanks for everyone's help along the way with this I am getting more knowledgeable every day!

Martin Your method with the mapping sounds good. Peter's base maps get better all the time as more people use the software. The main reason for using the wideband is when you are carrying out a fuel learn session the air fuel ratio(AFR) is lean at full throttle (WOT), which isn't good for SC engines. The wide band prevents the need to do this. In your case use the fuel learn to map general driving but not foot to floor then get the the fuelling checked on RR for full throttle runs.

it won't be running lean , lean = >1 stoich , beside nothing wrong with running stoich upto 5/6000rpm

plus it depends a lot on which wideband you are using and its application , the cheap Bosch lsu4.2 is ideal for dyno work, then always replace with narrowband. If you must keep wideband then get the lsu4.9

Yes it runs stoich when in std non wideband fuel learn. It's just sustained high rpm with this AFR is not ideal on forced induction as there is no fuel cooling going on possibly leading to high knock levels and engine damage.

You don't take out the chain, it's refitted. You effectively just remove the balancer shafts and refit the drive pulleys.

Good news. The car is ready.

Bad news I'm off to the deepest darkest bowels of the North again on the hottest day of the year.

If the M25 closes down again like it did the last time I went tup North, watch the news for a madman goes crazy then melts in small blue car.

Be interesting to see what temps this engine runs as the last one always ran hot at 92.

it seemed to be happy at 91 today  :)

But that is a new tight engine, so should lower after a few thousand miles  thumbsup

Perhaps if you spent your time doing something practical in your own garage you'd progress faster than spending your time criticising the "theory" of other people projects...

You are clearly a knowledgeable guy, but you need to respect other people's way of doing things a bit more. And then experience the reality of the car before making a pronounced judgement...

Good luck, keep spannering.
