My car developed a gearbox whine whilst racing through the Alps. It was most noticeable in 4th and 5th and I assumed terminal. I'd just had fresh oil and the breather mod done by MBR and was concerned something had gone wrong. As soon as the car came down from altitude and cooled down from the massive summer temperatures down there, not a whine has ever been heard since. Seems the F23 just doesn't like the Europeans?

Ha! Might well be that. The cars were superb on track, never missed a beat in 40deg heat. Think I have sun stroke. Never known EVERYTHING get so hot on the car. There are vids but they won't get uploaded until we get home. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Glad you had fun, I saw the forecast on the weekend any my envy levels went through the roof! Altitude and heat can have a huge affect on the cars. I took mine and a 111r up the col de la bonnette which is about 2800m above sea level. Well before the top both cars were hitting temps into the 110+ territory (I think the lotus may have hit 120) and every 10 minutes or so we had to pull them over and let them cool down. Oil and grease will get hotter and thinner, less air in the mix, even the tyres change shape with the pressure difference!

I assume you are doing Ledenon? See if you can beat my 115 water temp and 75 air intake. I was so busy enjoying I didn't notice until the car starts misfiring!

Ledenon is usually the hottest day of the frolic with little shade. Take it easy there for the first hour or so until you've got used to the braking & turn in points for the left handers at the top of 2 of the uphill sections.

We are doing Ledenon on Friday. Although we've been told Le Luc tomorrow is the worst for lack of shade. It's even hotter today. We are giving ourselves and the cars a day off. My coolant temps didn't go above 91 deg on track! Intake temps must have been suffering even with the WI as Rich's Exige pulled away from me on the straights despite me having the edge on the journey down. Gonna go to a local garage and see if they can top up the gearbox oil. That's if I can make myself understood as I don't speak French... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Just got in the car. This is ridiculous - burned my hands on the roof, the seat is scolding my arse and I've burnt my finger print off on the starter button! Must find shade! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Took car to garage round corner from hotel. They couldn't help but a lovely French bloke who was getting his car serviced offered to drive us across town to a garage that could. Turns out he owns a couple of porches and recently drove Paul Ricard so fellow sports car enthusiast. Also turns out he owns a vineyard in Chateauxneuf du Pape and he's invited us across for a wine tasting session on Thursday :D Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Gearbox needed nearly 2ltrs of oil. So I'm glad I got that sorted. I'll see how bothered I am about the bleed nipple / if my brakes work on track tomorrow :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
