If you get an email from the Department of Health telling you not to eat tinned pork because it's contaminated with Corvid19 - ignore it, it's just spam.

As far as we're aware they're making these decisions on their own. Learning I guess from experiences elsewhere.

How to fight this new virus! .We need to do what we can as a individual and we need to work together as a society .The way to overcome this virus is for a individual to protect themselves and for society to work together to deal with the problem. We have to do this together and by applying counter mesure to be put in place to overcome overshooting and taking this problem more seriously will make a tremendous changes .The world isn't doomed yet and by being united we will find a way to cure this problem but the world will never be the same as we know it and we will have to adapt to a new way of life and learn to respect our mother earth more seriously in the distant future .
My vx is away at the moment and it could be month till i see her again or never but it isn't my main worry...she has gave me 18 years of happiness .bless her i can see her position in essex on the tracker and she has gone to hibernation mode i think

One thing that has come to the fore is that face masks are the adult version of comfort blankets?

We're approaching the start of week 4 in lockdown and tonight until 10am on Saturday it is total curfew, with absolutely nothing being open and no one allowed out for any reason.
Is it working? Well the total number of confirmed cases in a popluation of 9.7m is 278, up 4 from yesterday with 5 deaths. But of course the number of confirmed cases could simply relate to how many tests are actually being carried out. But my sense is the lockdowm and curfew restrictions are the right mesures. There have so far been nearly 4000 arrests and 3600 vehicles impounded for breaking the curfew.
Last night, after an intensive 10 days of effort ending in an 18 hour day, we evacuated 28 staff and dependents from the Embassy and 42 British Nationals, reuniting them with their families and returning them to where they need to be at this time. We were in uncharted territory, having to stand up what would have been a major logistical challenge even in more normal times, operating from laptops at home, across several nationalities of passengers, developing a semi-commercial model, with the airspace and airport closed to passenger flights, a rigorous curfew and health restrictions in place, at the end of an enforced quarantine period for some, British citizens marooned 250 miles away in the south of the country in Aqaba and Wadi Rum as well as spread across the Dead Sea and Amman, and with Jordanian authorities massively overstretched and with limited bandwidth or – again they were in uncharted territory too – expertise to handle our requests.
Negotiating these obstacles was incredibly challenging. That the actual departure at 01:45 this morning went so smoothly (unlike some other nationalities!) was a great sense of achievement after the long days of careful and detailed preparation. The passengers boarded the aircraft on time; we had three colleagues taking the flight who were in British Government high visibility jackets and on-hand to help. They were hardly troubled because the prior communication and preparation had been so clear. There were no glitches and not one single Brit moaned!
I'm proud to have been the logistics lead in this effort and that as an Embassy we take our place alongside the other Embassies and High Commissions around the world who have organised these sorts of evacuation flights, in line with the Government’s commitment to bring home stranded British travellers. This is in the end what public service is about – serving the needs of our citizens in the more difficult times as well as the easier. They all really needed our help to get them home and this was a real collective effort.
So we're not just Ferrero Rocher eating, G&T swigging, time wasters. We'll not all the time anyway.

In the thick of it fella.
And I’m worried about getting caught taking my car in for an MOT on the weekend. We’re hoping there will be no drastic curfew needed but with reports of increased traffic, I wouldn’t be surprised. Some police are taking it very seriously and others happy to stop and chat.
Can you/ will you close the embassy completely? Will you make it back or does the FO require you to stay put?
Well stay safe,

Well stay safe,
You can drive without an MOT from the 30th of March, maybe just cancel the appointment and reschedule when we are out the otherside of the lockdown?

Well stay safe,
We've no plans to close the Embassy yet Pete. If things get worse then we've a contingency plan to reduce staffing down to a very small core team of around 8 of us. I'd be part of that team. If it gets into such serious instability that we couldn't adequately ensure the security of the office and ourselves then we'd be looking at a forced and full military evacuation / extraction of all of us back to the UK. But that is absolutely the worst case scenario, although we've got to have it in mind it could ultimately come to that. But let's hope not!
I actually really enjoy the edgyness of it.

Stay safe yourself.

Refer to government guidelines here https://www.gov.uk/g...m-30-march-2020
Your MOT will be automatically extended if it needed doing after the 30th of March - you are wasting your time going to the garage this weekend if this is the case because your MOT wont expire until October.
