Vocky, would you be able to put a kit together with instructions that I could purchase from you? I would be happy for you to add a small percentage for doing the hard work :) I would have the kit to bolt onto a standard engine... name your price! (Within reason :P )

Am I right in thinking I would need the 2.4 inlet manifold, new gasket, egr valve blank plate, and also to modify the altenator slightly? Is it a relatively easy DIY job?

Otherwise I'd make a right pig's ear of it and my wife would be all like: :beat:

Thanks! :grouphug:

I'm sure the 'tuning companies' will quickly catch on to this mod and sell a kit

where sells a weld-in sport cat as in one of the z22se.org posts?

usually some on ebay :)

mine was a magnaflow and cost under £100 :D

What difference would the 2.4 TB make to a standard cam'd car?

it's too big for standard cams, only really needed with head work, cams, 4-1 exhaust etc

IIRC and that's without a remap I reckon it'll crack 160 at 6700rpm

Is that power at the wheels, or at the fly?

so you ditched the 68mm and still got good gains? would the 68mm be usable if it were remapped?

I think he needs some cams and headwork first, too much flow otherwise :(

ok now we are talking. I'm very limited with what I can do to my car to avoid big insurance costs. I already have paid for exhaust/manifold non-standard (currently just have a different back box) and intake non standard (k&n filter). this leaves possibility for me 4-2-1 manifold, sport cat, intake manifold and tb. If I can get such gains from just altering these (no engine work at all) then I'm going to do it... :)

:o I know what I'm doing this October/November when the nights get dark. I assume that with having the head flowed and uprated cams the larger throttle body will suit it better?

I think the nice thing about the manifold is not just that the numbers go up. But if you look at the graph, you can see the characteristic of the engine changes. That's the best thing about the inlet manifold, it transforms the engine from being in "caravan tow mode" to something that actually suits a sportscar :) The gains are pretty rediculous I think, it goes to show that GM really made an effort to strangle the engine by using the default manifold. Otherwise the gains wouldn't have been this high. So I am guessing this is more like a standard 2.2 should produce, without any actual tuning. And if I see what Vocky already achieved with what would normally be considered a mild tune (rev limiter below 7000 and only midly more agressive cams) than there must be more :) Mark

I wonder how much more a 4-2-1 or 4-1 exhaust manifold would give B)

(Im confused! Are you using the 68mm tb or the 58mm? What other performance mods do you have?( <- Ignore that! Ive read the guide through properly now!

Very impressed with the gains! Would it be easy for a mechanical novice to attempt?
