Should have spent less time looking at this thread, and more time sorting out my own insurance. Just discovered that CCI close at 5pm on a Frida, and aren't open tomorrow. Oops :ninja: Good luck with it all though Joe. I'm sure you'll find an acceptable solution somewhere - after all you've come this far so you need to get it on the road! G

  • Have you considered just insuring it for 6 months (obviously summer). Never done this so not sure if you can, but this would no doubt reduce it.
  • Make sure you ask them what you can do to drop it as some are really helpful, Richard Egger said:
Join a car club x% off (forget what)
Do a training day x% off (forget what)
Limit miles x% off (forget what)

Cant you get a map switching thingy to reduce bhp (most of the time :) )???

Do feel for you as I just had a nightmare with insurance on a second car. Good luck.

I wonder how gender would change the quote? You could always phone shells wheels and claim to be a pre op transsexual. Might be just as cheap to go the whole hog! Lol Insurance gets on my tits! Wouldn't it be nice if they could rethink the whole thing and say have a fund which you pay £3500 into but you can have it back if you don't make a claim. There's if you do. They get to invest your money for a year and you just don't spunk it. Obviously they charge you a half sensible premium on top like £300. Robbing gits!!!

It would be a real shame not to put it on the road Joe, i hope you sort something out! Are you going to be insuring it for trackdays?

can your mum insure it and add you on rather than you as the main driver? (not sure if that will effect your track days haha)

What about trying to get a sponsorship deal from an insurance company ? Free or discounted insurance for advertising space on the car ?

I'm not sure whether this is any help to you but it works a treat for me. I have a corsa c 1.2 insured as my main car, £700 for the year. Each month I call up Elephant and ask to put my vx onto the policy as a temp car, you can do this every month not a problem. They charge me £61.50 for the month, fully comp, insured for 9.5k. Oh and I'm 20 with 1 years NCB driving 3 an a bit years :D with 1 claim too, but elephant decreased my insurance because they think I've learnt my lesson ;) thumbsup
