I know it will become a cat A, but try and buy back the engine and exhaust from the insurance company, the rods / pistons / valves / cams / exhaust / flywheel / clutch should have survived ok and I will build you another engine :grouphug:

So start looking for another vx, you know it makes sense :poke:

And the gearbox(4.17diff)
as a consolation
I will transfer internals (assuming serviceable) into a spare casing that I have FOC

I think that you guys are dreaming about re-using anything from that car. The tub melted into pieces. I bet the block sagged badly. If the max temp witness sticker survived tell us what it says. Again, if you want a head start on #2 consider rcvaughan's car.

thank you everyone and thanks for all the offers off help too be honest, i dont know where the car is nor do i expect them to let me take anything from it! its a cat A so it will go straight to the crusher! but i will ask to see what they say, no harm in trying! as my 2bular was in tact! if i come back to the fold then i will have to get a loud tullet  al i know is that if i come back to the fold then it will be one hell of a monster!

Until the insurance is out of the way ANY comments from Joe would be unwise so I think it's best if we don't ask. Not having a dig by the way fella :) just thought I'd put that out there!

Joe if you need a pair of hands for your next project my spanners are at your service!! After the amount of work you've done on mine I owe you some free* labour

thats a shitter. Good job you didnt manage to get it put out too, as powder extinguishers + heat = corroded tub in a years time and ins wouldnt give a toss. I saw a mates car go up, it was front engine etc and the ally block literally vanished into nothing :s

Joe, I have only had the pleasure of meeting you once (at Brands when you put your TAT back on with my cable tie!) but I have watched all that you have done to your VX through this forum. Words cannot express how gutted I am for you. Glad you are OK. Hope to see you back in the seat of a VX soon buddy.

Unbelievable mate. Absolutely gutted for you! Such a waste. What's the next step and will you be returning to the fold?

You could always go a similar route to the one Jimmy has and save quite a boit of cash that way. Having just bought my first house though thats good fun too

You'll be telling us next how You had just filled up with fuel too :beat: That happened to me when my car went up in smoke. I had only owned the car 19 hours, and had just filled the fairly large tank up. Then 35 miles later, all gone. :beat:
